Glacier Walk on Sólheimajökull

Sólheimajökull glacier is extending of the majestic Mýrdalsjökull glacier all the way down to the black sandy plains of the Icelandic south coast. On this fun, safe and easy to moderate glacier walk you get to explore the wonders of the glacier. You will see ice sculptures, water cauldrons and deep crevasses. While enjoying the glacier walk and wonders of the glacier and its beautiful surroundings, the guide will tell you about how the glacier behaves and how they affect the nature.

Included: Experienced glacier guide, crampons, ice axes and safety equipment.

Attention point: You will need to meet us 15 minutes before departure at the meeting point at Sólheimajökull glacier. Bring warm clothes, hiking boots and rain gear.

Reykjavik: 164 km. about 2 hours, 30 minutes.
Selfoss: 108 km. about 1 hour, 47 minutes.
Hella: 72 km. about 1 hour, 10 minutes.
Hvolsvöllur: 59 km. about 62 minutes.
Skógar: 12 km. about 30 minutes.
Vík: 31 km. about 42 minutes.

Directions to the meeting point: From Reykjavik, Selfoss, Hella, Hvolsvollur or other communities along the South, you drive road number 1 towards East. You will pass the beautiful Seljalandsfoss as well as the great waterfall Skógarfoss. From Skógar junction you drive for about 6 km and just after a bridge you turn left on the gravel road 221, you follow that road for about 5 km (20 to 30 min.) to the Sólheimajökull Café parking area.
