Ice Cave Adventure                                                       IFGA 4376

In one of the most beautiful areas; the Vatnajökull region in South East Iceland there are extraordinary ice caves. We now offer an Ice Cave Tour so you can experience and see for yourself these amazing structures. Ice caves are one of the most breathtaking natural phenomenons in the world but they are formed when water runs underneath the glacier in the summertime. Where we go the water have cut its way through 800 years old ice and formed the caves. In the wintertime they are safe to visit and that is when our guests get the opportunity go on these tours with us.

Local guides go and search for new ice caves each fall in order to find the most spectacular ones cause during the summer they change. From day to day the guides might choose different ice caves to visit due to weather condition and safety in the caves.

About the tour: When all are set to go we drive for about 20 minutes to the point where we start our walk to the ice cave. We walk for about  10 – 15 minutes. While we walk the guide talks about interesting facts and stories from the area. When we get to the ice cave we stay for about 1 – 1,5 hours, both inside and outside of it. That gives you plenty of time to enjoy the cave and the surrounding area.
